Recently, my husband took a new job that requires him to travel for extended periods of time. We have weapons in our home, and I did not feel competent to use them. I signed up for Dan’s Firearms for Women class to feel more confident and safe in my home.
Dan used humor and a great deal of patience when teaching the class to two other women and me. We all felt as though we gained significant knowledge about handguns and ammunition. Dan explained the difference between a revolver and a semi-automatic handgun. He made sure we understood the structure of the guns and how to operate them. This information was critical considering that we ended our class on the shooting range.
There were a variety of weapons available for our use. We had an opportunity to fire small pocket pistols, revolvers and semi-automatics. We were able to determine which weapon was a good choice for each of our particular needs.
Dan took the time to explain defensive shooting and the possible scenarios we might face being alone in our homes. He was very clear without instilling panic or paranoia.
After completing the course, I feel more confident and am committed to regular target practice. The Firearms for Women class was a great place to begin.

My wife took this course about a year ago and really liked it. It’s a great primer for firearms and safety. We know Dan and he is a great guy and teacher.

Ladies sign up and go!. I attended Dan’s class a couple of months ago it was informative and allowed me to make a well informed decision about the type of handgun I want to carry as my concealed carry weapon. Dan does a great job of explaining each of the guns and has the patience of a saint. Not that he needed patience with me!!!!

Dan, Thanks to all three of you for your patience and understanding. Much appreciated! I really enjoyed the class and learned what guns I want and what I don’t want. I feel so much more comfortable just picking up my husband’s 45 when I got home and do not think of it as too heavy as I did before the class (not that Ii would really want to shoot it on a regular basis.) I had a lot of misconceptions before the class that you dispelled for me. The other women in the class were fun to be with and that added a lot to the learning experience.

Thank you Dan! I really did enjoy the class. Thought I did learn things I didn’t know, it also reinforced what I did know but not exposed to on a more regular basis. Keep me informed on the basic handgun course dates. That is something I would like to attend as well. Thank you again for you time and your patience. It truly did make a difference.

Hi Dan. I attended your class for Firearms For Women last Saturday. I wanted to thank you and tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed it and I feel like I learned a tremendous amount! Please send me updates on future classed you will be holding. I am also interested to know if you may have a similar class to the one I attended for beginners, but for teenagers. Thanks again Jennifer.

Thank You seems lacking for the way I want to let you know the wonderful job you and Meridith did today. Let’s just say she talked a lot at dinner and on the way home and guns, you and Meridith were the topic of conversation. She had a great time and LEARNED a lot which was enough to show her she needs more training. She was reading the handouts to me on the way home. Also thanks for the ears and glasses. We have your schedule and will be going over it for your upcoming classes. The first experience being this good for her will make it easier for the next one and I can’t thank you enough. Her only complaint, her thumb is sore.

I attended the ‘Firearms For Women’ class this past Saturday at the Tulsa Gun Club. I really enjoyed it and felt like I learned a lot! It was very comfortable, no pressure atmosphere, which is what I was hoping to get out of a women only class. I highly recommend this to any ladies wanting to take a introductory class! I especially liked that we got to try out so many different pistols. (In looking around for a class, I noticed a lot of them required you to bring your own gun, so you would only be able to practice on that one.) We tried out guns in just about every caliber, and even varieties in each caliber. I now know exactly what fits me well and what I feel comfortable shooting. Definitely takes the guess work out of picking a gun to buy. We also shot a 12 gauge and 20 gauge shotgun. Overall, a fun and very informative morning.
